About us
Stevenage Dolphins was founded in 1962 by Mr Harry Parker, our late president, and was one of the first groups to use the newly opened Stevenage Swimming Pool.
We're a UK registered charity (number 265658), run entirely by volunteers. We rely on donations and the goodwill of Stevenage Borough Council, Everyone Active and the staff at the pool.

Our sessions
Every Sunday we run a 1 hour 15 minute session where our members can enjoy the water and grow in confidence. Here's what to expect:
A deck-level pool with a hoist to help people in and out
One lane roped off for lane swimming
The rest of the pool open for everyone to enjoy
Club volunteers always happy to help in the water
Lifeguards on duty for the whole session
Family and carers welcome in the water as associate members
Galas and medals
We take part in competitive swimming galas, run to NASCH rules.
We compete at galas hosted by clubs in our area and take part in the NASCH Region 3 championship. There are always plenty of medals and smiles!
Our history
July 1962
Harry Parker, who lived in Stevenage and worked at Kayser Bondor in Baldock, saw there were no swimming facilities for disabled people nearby. He persuaded his employers to let their outdoor pool be used, and the Dolphin Swimming Club was born.
August 1962
When Stevenage Development Corporation built a new swimming pool in the town, Harry lobbied them, and the Dolphins became its very first private users, followed by Stevenage Swimming Club.
October 1962
Harry noticed the pool had no first aid room, so he took it on himself to get one. Part of the ladies' changing area became a first aid room between the changing rooms and the poolside.
